Physiotherapy

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Please note that we will see acute, subacute and chronic injuries (all injuries), for the purposes of rehabilitation. You do not need a referral for our physiotherapy services.

Please note physiotherapy is physician supervised, therefore upon request, some types of topical pain creams may be applied at the completion of the treatment in order to enhance pain relief.

SPORTS INJURY REHABILITATION

If you experience a sport related injury, an individualized treatment plan may include sport specific training in order to facilitate a seamless return to play. In addition, we may collaborate on designing a personalized home exercise program that can assist in reducing risk for re-injury in the future.

GRADED AEROBIC EXERCISE PROGRAMS

Cardiovascular exercise is an important part of wellbeing but it can also help manage chronic pain and chronic conditions. In the long term, aerobic exercise can: improve function in daily activities, assist in weight loss, increase stamina and reduce fatigue, reduce health risks, strengthen your heart, and boost your mood. We will help find the right program for you and your needs.

HOME EXERCISE PROGRAMS

Everyone’s pain experience is different and a personalized exercise program can help reduce pain and improve daily function. Each Individualized exercise program will be different, however, some areas of focus include: Strength training, Balance, Core training, Mobility, Static and dynamic stretching, and Endurance training. Based on each person’s needs, a combination of different areas of focus will likely yield the best results.

PAIN NEUROPHYSIOLOGY EDUCATION

A better understanding of pain science and the pain experience has been shown to improve outcomes. We will work together to understand your pain and create realistic expectations and strategies to manage pain.

MANUAL THERAPY

We may include passive stretching, such as proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), soft tissue massage, soft tissue release, and joint mobilizations.

MODALITIES

We offer modalities such as Heat and Ice therapy, TENS, IFC, and EMS to assist with managing chronic pain, and reducing muscle tightness and joint stiffness.

These interventions can help to improve function and work in concert with your specific home exercise plan.
