TREAT PAIN WITH MEDICAL CANNABIS
Avella Injury and Pain Management would be happy to discuss your eligibility for treatment with medical cannabis.
Medical Cannabis is the medical use of the Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica plant to relieve symptoms of pain. At Avella, we will assess you to determine if your condition is suitable for medical cannabis. If so, we will prescribe medical cannabis. We manage dosing and titration every three months while you are under our care. We encourage all patients considering medical cannabis to register for the following free Cannabis E-Learning Course.
CONDITIONS TREATED WITH MEDICAL CANNABIS
Medical cannabis is used to treat various neuropathic conditions, including:
Amputation (Phantom Limb Pain)
Medical cannabis may offer relief from phantom limb pain, which is often described as burning, tingling, or aching in the missing limb.
Post-Stroke Pain
Post-stroke pain, a type of neuropathic pain following a stroke, can be managed with medical cannabis, particularly when it affects the side of the body opposite the stroke.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Medical cannabis can alleviate neuropathic pain associated with MS, resulting from nerve damage in the central nervous system.
Diabetic Neuropathy
Patients with diabetic neuropathy, experiencing burning or shooting pain, particularly in the feet and legs, may find relief through medical cannabis.
Trigeminal Neuralgia
For those with trigeminal neuralgia, a chronic pain condition affecting the facial nerves, medical cannabis can help manage intense, stabbing facial pain.
Postherpetic Neuralgia
Medical cannabis may provide relief for postherpetic neuralgia, a persistent pain after shingles, often described as burning or shooting pain.
Spinal Cord Injury
Individuals with spinal cord injuries, experiencing neuropathic pain described as burning, tingling, or stabbing sensations, may benefit from medical cannabis
MEDICAL CANNABIS FOR SLEEP SUPPORT
Medical cannabis is also used to promote better sleep, particularly for those struggling with insomnia or sleep disturbances due to chronic pain, anxiety, or other health conditions. It can help regulate sleep patterns, reduce the time it takes to fall asleep, and improve overall sleep quality, offering a natural alternative to traditional sleep aids.
